Promote creative expression in the performing, visual and literary arts, preserving the heritages that make our multicultural futures powerful.

Provide a community space that advances the individual and collective imagination as it relates to our Latinx culture, while creating a culturally enriching space where diverse identities, heritages, and expressions are affirmed and celebrated throughout the arts.
Our History
After a wave of youth violence in Santa Maria in 2015, Latinx students from various organizations, including Future Leaders, Just Communities, Youth Making Change, and CAUSE, asked local leadership to address the issue of violence by supporting a cultural and creative arts center that could serve as a creative hub where individual voices are validated and connected to our Latinx culture, and where a push for public art that is reflective of our economic, cultural, and social contributions, are highlighted and celebrated.

This request went unheard by our local leadership. Toward these ends, we created a thirteen-member Development Committee representative of a wide demographic. These included educators, parents, students, LGBTQ, indigenous, business, and faith-based representatives, among others. This committee developed the mission, the vision, name, logo, and the structural foundation for what would become Corazón del Pueblo or, by its official name, the Cultural and Creative Arts Center of the Santa Maria Valley.

On June 6, 2019, we were officially granted our 501c3 status by the state of California. We proudly serve the Santa Maria Valley and partner with community leaders to elevate the role of diverse arts and artists in our local communities.

Nuestra historia
Después de una ola de violencia juvenil en Santa María en 2015, los estudiantes latinxs de varias organizaciones, incluidos Future Leaders, Just Communities, Youth Making Change y CAUSA, pidieron a los líderes locales que aborden el problema de la violencia apoyando un centro de artes culturales y creativas que podría servir como un centro creativo donde las voces individuales se validan y conectan con nuestra cultura Latinx, y donde se destaca y celebra un impulso por el arte público que refleja nuestras contribuciones económicas, culturales y sociales.
Esta solicitud no fue escuchada por nuestro liderazgo local. Con estos fines, creamos un Comité de Desarrollo de trece miembros representativos de un grupo amplio demográfico. Estos incluyeron educadores, padres, estudiantes, LGBTQ, representantes indígenas, empresariales y religiosos, entre otros. Este comité desarrolló la misión, la visión, el nombre, el logotipo y la base estructural de lo que se convertiría en Corazón del Pueblo o, por su nombre oficial, "Cultural and Creative Arts Center of the Santa Maria Valley" (Centro Cultural y de Artes Creativas del Valle de Santa María).
El 6 de junio de 2019, el estado de California nos otorgó oficialmente nuestro estado 501c3. Estamos orgullosos de servir al Valle de Santa María y nos asociamos con líderes comunitarios para elevar el papel de diversas artes y artistas en nuestras comunidades locales.
